Separation and Extraction Technology of Lactoferrin Membrane

Lactoferrin is a safe and reliable natural substance extracted from milk without any side effects. As a multifunctional protein, lactoferrin has the functions of bactericidal, bacteriostasis, antiviral and inhibiting human cancer cells. It can also regulate the balance of iron in human body and promote the absorption of iron by human body. With the development and maturity of biotechnology, more and more attention has been paid to the practical value of lactoferrin.

Two extraction processes of lactoferrin:

1. Casein was separated by microfiltration membrane after degreasing treatment of liquid milk. The remaining whey protein was separated by membrane to extract lactoferrin. After 100,000 molecular weight and 50,000 molecular weight membrane filtration system, 80,000 molecular weight of thermoferrin was obtained. After low temperature powder spraying, the purity of lactoferrin was more than 60%. The whole process does not add any chemicals, so it will not damage the various nutrients in milk, without the worry of secondary pollution, the by-products after extraction can be used for dairy processing.

2. Casein was separated by microfiltration membrane after degreasing treatment of liquid milk, lactoferrin was adsorbed and resolved by ion exchange resin, and then desalinated by ultrafiltration membrane concentration. The purity of lactoferrin obtained by low temperature powder spraying was over 90%. Although the purity of lactoferrin has been improved, there are also corresponding deficiencies. As the addition of chemical reagents for analysis and regeneration will affect the nutritional composition of the remaining dairy products, the by-products after extraction are not recommended to do dairy processing.
